Head and Neck Cancer Foundation director John Fordham has used his long career as a wine writer to help raise funds to meet the Foundation’s research and awareness goals.
The Sunday Telegraph wine critic was diagnosed himself with head and neck cancer in 2017 and, having fully recovered from the illness a year later, helped established the Foundation in conjunction with a team of cancer specialists, led by the Foundation’s chairman, Professor Thomas Havas.
Two wines, appropriately labelled Critic’s Choice, produced in partnership with Cellarmasters and McGuigan Wines, anchor the Foundation’s fund-raising campaign.
For John Fordham, wine was an obvious connection to raise funds. The 2016 Critic’s Choice Barossa Valley Shiraz and 2017 Critic’s Choice Hunter Valley-Adelaide Hills Chardonnay easily meet expectations on the scores of quality and value. The wine’s labels were designed by John Fordham’s artist daughter, Sarah.
The wines are available through cellarmasters.com.au at $25 a bottle.
